Aunt Chrys' Carmel's

½ lb. butter
1 pt whip cream
1 ¾ cups karo syrup
2 cups sugar
1 tsp .vanilla
1 cup walnuts (optional)

Add butter, sugar and ½ of the cream into large pot. Stir slightly. With burner on high add karo syrup. Keep stirring until it boils then slowly add the rest of the cream.
***NEVER LET IT STOP BOILING!! KEEP STIRRING!!***
Once at a rolling boil, turn down to simmer and let to until a candy thermometer read 235 degrees. Takes 3 -4 hours. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into buttered 9 x 12 pan. Leave over night in refrigerator then cut and wrap in wax paper.
