Licorice carmels

1 can sweeten condensed mil
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 c karo syrup

Mix all ingredients together in a heavy pan. Cook stirring constantly to 240°.  Remove from heat and add 3/4 teaspoon of anise oil and 3/4 tsp black food coloring.  Pour into buttered 9x13 pan.  Cool completely before cutting into squares.
